Established as York Beer Shop in 1985, we have now been championing the cause of good beer for over thirty years, featuring in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide for a consecutive fourteen years. In 2003, and again in 2009, we were finalists in the Independent Beer Retailer of the Year awards in London, and in 2004 we listed amongst the 50 Best Cheese Shops in Britain by the Independent newspaper. We have received coverage in Rick Stein's Guide to the Food Heroes of Britain, and the Times Weekend Review. We have also been listed in many guide books including Michael Jackson's World Beer Guide, Roger Protz's The Ale Trail and Jeff Evans Good Bottled Beer Guide. Our range of Spanish wines received a commendation from the Spanish Embassy's commercial arm, Wines From Spain, and we have won two categories, Drinks Retailer and Cheesemonger, in the Yorkshire Evening Press Eat Local awards.
